Chezale is a singer/songwriter/emcee out of Arizona, originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. With distinct, sharply focused writing & a powerful yet accessible stage presence, she delivers intelligent messages without ever losing her groove. Possessing a sound that encompasses Hip-Hop and Soul, imbued with an R&B flavor and a versatile edge. With earlier musical influences of Queen Latifah, Lauryn Hill, Brandy, Aaliyah and more…while still managing to have a strong voice that is all her own.
Chezale has been classically trained in choir throughout her schooling and in lead roles in musical theatre. She’s been a part of multiple stage productions like ‘The Doowop Divas’ touring Arizona and Florida in 2015 & 2017 and once singing background for Grammy award-winning crooner Michael Bublé alongside acapella group Naturally7.
In 2007, Chezale recorded her debut album MY STORY…The Making of a Maverick. In 2009, she was the only contestant chosen from Arizona and 1 of 13 contestants to compete in the west coast regional Shiekh Music/Reebok Grand Finale in Burbank, CA. As a result, a song from her debut album, “El-Oh-Vee-E” was chosen as part of a major compilation hosted by DJ Carisma out of Los Angeles, CA. In 2010, Chezale was also a finalist in the professional category of the 17th Street Idol Singer/Songwriter competition. Her music has received radio play at HOT98.3, KXCI, 99.1FM Downtown Radio & several other independent stations nationally and internationally.
Chezale’s song “Hip Hop Nation” from her sophomore release MAVMUZIK was hand-picked by the legendary Chuck D of Public Enemy as ‘Spit of the Week – Songs That Mean Something’ in 2014. Her music has been placed on several web series, including Black&SexyTV. She has opened for artists like Akil the Emcee of Jurassic 5, Slick Rick “The Ruler”, The Hieroglyphics Crew & Princess Nokia. Keeping close to her Hip Hop & community roots, Chezale has also played the Tucson Hip Hop Festival in 2016, 2017 & 2019. She has also had the honor of playing the legendary House of Blues San Diego stage.
