Chezale celebrates Black History Month and beyond with new single “Dear Ancestors”.

The theme this year is Resistance…a time to seek and share knowledge about our histories (during, pre and post-chattel slavery), partaking in the arts, driving political action and more. We use this time to take up space by celebrating, honoring and making visible our stories, communities and cultures.

“Dear Ancestors” is less of a song and more of a potent open letter of praise, appreciation and acknowledgment of her cultural ancestry and lineage, both near and distant. With firey lyrics backed by an unapologetic delivery…she opens with a prayer-like call to her ancestors and enters the first verse with an intense passion for the protection of her culture’s most precious creations and hopes of living out her ancestor’s wildest dreams. She takes us on a spiritual journey in hopes to leave listeners in a more awakened, empowered and connected state.
