The music video for “Dear Ancestors” releases February 18th, 2023 in continued celebration of Black History Month! This POWERFUL visual does a beautiful job of bringing the message and story to life with Chezale’s performance as the focal point, the Arizona desert as the backdrop and real life vintage images of historical figures and “regular folk” in the Black American community.

The Arizona Commission on the Arts, an agency of the State of Arizona, announced the 30 recipients of Research & Development (R&D) Grants for 2022. Awarded through a competitive application and review process, these $5,000 grants support Arizona artists as they work to advance their artistic practice, expand their creative horizons, and deepen the impact of their work.

Grantees represent a variety of artistic disciplines and reside in communities throughout the state. Chezale is looking to use the funds to help complete musical recordings and collaborate with other arts professionals to help bring to life those musical stories through creative visuals. “Peak of Monsoon” quickly came to fruition with production by Freddy Jay Walker and written by Chezale. The track includes the sample Leo Season Rain, with faint sounds of jingling keys, the starting of a car’s ignition and silky rains…with smooth bass and guitar melodies that embellish the track with an R&B groove.
